Particle-Wave duality Visualization

Sometimes we are solid      ~>         and sometimes we are wave-like.

We are taught to forget                   how to blur our edges.

but we remember                                and find our way back to being

messy and beautiful                          just like the stars

This is an exercise to explore the concept of particle-wave duality. Based on my own personal exploration with gender and race identity, it allows us to think about which aspects of ourselves we want to be solid and well defined with borders and boundaries and which aspects might be more fluid and amorphous.

General script i use to lead visualization:

Close your eyes and start to bring some awareness to your body. Start to akwnowledge any sensations you might have just like watching the aliveness of a landscape, trees, birds, animals, weather all interacting and emerging with movement.

Now start to become aware of your surfaces. Think about how you are coming into contact with the floor or chair underneath you. What does that boundary feel like

Now consider the edge between your skin and the air around you, where there might not be any layers or clothes in between. Is it as noticible? Perhaps this is a boundary we can see but not feel so distinctly.

What are other ways we sense where we end and where something else begins.

Imagine again our edges to be so solid all around us and we become like stone, solid strong, defined.

Slowly our atoms become to wiggle and we become a little more liquid

as this continues and the vibrations increase we begin to evaporate and form a gas, diffuse. we are a cloud of ourselves

As the vibration increases lets start to imagine us just as waves, permeating out like the ripples in a pond. Do these waves really start and end anywhere or are we always just the motion in between and everywhere.

(take some time to let folks feel into this)

As you start to collect yourself back into your own configuration of particles and waves start think about aspects of your identity that sometimes you like to be more solid and more defined. And which are more fluid, differing from day to day. In what spaces do these identities evovle and adapt? Start to open your eyes, see your fellow particle-wavers and lets discuss.
